I have came across this post titled “Farewell, so long and fuck you very much” a few weeks or maybe a month or so back.

I google for WordPress Mobile Edition plugin for my blog and I found Andy’s blog. To my surprise, Andy had closed down all his services to the communities and have stop everything including social network accounts to have a total clear of all the craps in his life.

There has been a lot of motivating and inspiring story sharing sessions around in Andy’s blog and thus created ripples around all his supporters. Even for a non-user to him is touched by his post and deeply inspired and motivated.

I’m glad that he spent time replying to users who really care for him and I think he’s touched and he will stand up once again and we folks out there should always support him.

I understand the difficulties that during this recession, a lot of people are cutting their budgets on ads, users like us cut out expenses like donating to developers like Andy. What I really want to say is, if someone out there help you solve your problem, and if you’re not donating back and not expressing your gratitude towards his service, do not complaints! People are out there to help you, if you don’t appreciate it, please do not discriminate them in return. If you don’t like it, just don’t use it and criticize people or bad mouth them. I think we should at least show some courtesy there, even for a community in the World Wide Web.

I would think that if for example, I’m a developer and I develop free-of-charge for people, I would expect if any of you, who is kind enough, would at least donate or say thank you if you love the products, and feedbacks to me, or help to advertise it by putting some badges or words of mouth so that my work is appreciated. Of course, I won’t demand people to do that, but deep inside my heart, those compliments really tell me whether what I’ve done is what people want to use, and whether my efforts pay off. Otherwise, I wont be motivated to move on and improve my products.

Well, I’m sorry I really don’t know how to express what I feel and think properly here, but well, anyway, please visit this link and read Andy’s blog post if you’re interested and leave a comment or two to him ;-)

Just restarted my computer and I realised there’s an update for Nokia PC Suite, thus, I went on to my Device Manager of my Nokia N96 and search for latest firmware update. To my surprise, it seemed like there is a major update which might be what I’ve been waiting for. I’m not sure whether I’m slow in getting this update, but just want to share with you, in case there’s someone like me who missed out the updates!

It took a while for the phone to download from Nokia and to restart for installation. That’s also true for Nokia PC Suite installation on my computer. I strongly advise those of you, even though you’re not using N96, to check for any update available to your phone.

In case you do not know how to do so, from your phone, press the Menu key, or go to your Main Menu, and then locate the “Tools” icon, then “Utilities”, then “Device Manager”, then check for update. There you go!

I’ve experienced some interface and animation changes, including new applications under DOwnload! like WorldMate which I think is a very useful free applications, as well as the loading animations, which is definitely much cooler and it also indicated to users that I’m loading, with the globe spinning slowly means you’re loading something from the Internet. Cool!

The Mail For Exchange has been imporved tremendously, instead of the previous Access Point selection from a list, now it’s simplified to Internet or WAP, I simply love this as I don’t like the hassle to keep on changing my Access Point which often ends up corrupting my MFE and I have to reinstall it again and again.

You can even set to display new mail alert from several mailbox on your “dashboard”, the home screen, now! Yes, after the updates!

I think there’s simple a great enjoyment I’ve ever had for an update. I was never that excited before for the previous updates. I hope there would be something more and better to come soon. Though I hate regular updates but I like Nokia way of updating phones and firmware, I have no worries at all, just let the updates get downloaded, installed, and run! That’s it! Nokia totally rule for me now!

My next upgrade would definitely still be Nokia, but this N96 is enough to last me for another 3 – 4 years I guess, hehe…so..no hurry for me. Unless there’s a better must-have Nokia handset, I’m not sure about pre yet, not sure whether I will get iPhone, or Nokia N97, we shall see. But one thing for sure, Nokia handset always come as top priority to me, after I’ve been toying with different handset models from different brand name. Hmm..what’s your choice?

Yes, you didn’t read it wrong here. It’s free due to the current recession that hit the market badly and a lot of developers are retrenched (probably).

I definitely welcome this approach from Adobe which offer developers a nice tool to pick up the Flex, one of the best RIA language that you should pick up. If you’re currently unemployed or retrenched, you could easily head over to https://freeriatools.adobe.com to get you free Flex Builder 3!

There’s no proof needed and its purely out of honesty, that after you check the checkbox to confirm that you’re unemployed at the moment and you will follow those license agreements, etc etc, and that’s it!

It’s a bit late for me to tell you this piece of great news now, but it’s still available! And I’ve actually shared this on Facebook as well. So if you’re keen to embark on a new journey for RIA (Rich Internet Application) and wish to get this nice tool, and you’re really not working for any company and would not re-distribute this Flex Builder 3 to anyone else, plus… you won’t be using it to develop any commercial product, then you are safe to apply for the license code for Flex Builder 3 Professional!

So what are you still waiting for? Get started and be a Flex developer today!

This is where you select which version you want to apply for:

Flex Builder Version Selection

And this is the license agreement you have to agree before you proceed:

And fill up this form, and you’re done! I can’t show you what happen next as I’m not eligible to apply for it and hence I didn’t fill up the form. So, grab it if you’re eligible for a copy! ;-)
